Kolty Chess Club
The Kolty Chess Club, one of the oldest chess clubs in the bay area with members ranging from beginners to experts, meets weekly in Campbell. We invite chess players of all ages and skill levels to join us for USCF-rated tournaments, casual play, and chess instruction. The club holds 8 to 10 USCF-rated tournaments each year with long time controls (G/75, G/90, or G/120) and a few other events with shorter time controls (G/30 or blitz). Most of the tournaments are 5-round tournaments held over a period of weeks, with one game per week.
The club meets every Wednesday evening, except for certain holidays and other times when the facility is unavailable. Tournament games start promptly at 7:30 p.m.
The club meets in the Fellowship Hall at the Campbell United Methodist Church, conveniently located near the intersection of Winchester Boulevard and Hamilton Avenue, not far from downtown Campbell with easy access to VTA light rail, bus routes, I-880/SR-17, I-280, and SR-85. There is ample free, off-street parking behind the hall. The club rents the facility from the church and is not affiliated with the church.
The club has chess sets, boards, and a few analog clocks for anyone to use, but please bring your own set and digital clock if you have them. Digital clocks are preferred.
